Motorycles & Scooters
If you opt to come to College on a powered two wheeler, the main benefit will be the reduced travel time as filtering through traffic is completely legal.
Motorcycles are generally more economical than a car giving you considerably cheaper fuel costs. The more basic technology used in motorcycles means servicing and maintenance costs are normally low too. Motorcycles also have low CO² emissions compared with most cars (DEFRA) and are therefore cheap to tax. A motorcycle with an engine of 125cc or under costs just £15 per year to tax.
Motorcycles cause little or no congestion and take up very little space when parked and so are offered free parking in most other city centre car parks all year round.
Useful Information for those who come on a Motorcycle or Scooter:
- Offering free parking on all sites – With the exception of the Joseph Wright Centre, all other Derby College sites have parking provision for motorcycles and scooters. We are trying to make parking easy and safe with most sites offering secure parking. There are plenty of spaces at the Roundhouse - all lockable with CCTV to keep them safe.
- Licensing Information – Information leaflets will be available around College about what licences you need, how old you need to be to ride one and loads of other useful information.
