British Empire Medal for Rebecca Hartshorn

Design and Sustainability Manager at Bowmer and Kirkland, Rebecca Hartshorn, has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen.

Bristol Street Motors Renault Derby has invested in its future workforce after hiring Derby College Motor Vehicle learner Jordan Coles as an Apprentice Technician. Jordan impressed bosses at the Sir Frank Whittle Road dealership during his work placement from Derby College and was subsequently offered a full-time technician apprenticeship.

Derby College Students Harvest Hallowe’en Crop

Agricultural learners at Derby College's Broomfield Hall have harvested a bumper crop of pumpkins in time for Hallowe'en.

Work to demolish two large gas-holders on Derby's Pride Park has been completed – and National Grid will soon put the site up for sale. Once a fundamental part of the city's gas network, the gas-holders have not been used since the turn of the millennium and have been dismantled to make way for regeneration of the site. At 12.8 and 11.2 metres high, their removal will change the city skyline and provide much-needed space for development.
