Derby College is celebrating an increase in the number of students achieving higher grades (A* to B) in the first A level results published since the major curriculum re-structure.

A record 30% of A level students at the Joseph Wright sixth form centre gained the higher grades and the overall pass rate was just over 96%. Points per entry has also increased to 27.5 compared with 23.7 last year.

A Derby recruitment consultancy has grown his business with the appointment of a digital marketing apprentice – further strengthening its working links with Derby College. Sky Recruitment Solutions, based at Riverside Chambers in the Cathedral Quarter, has appointed Max Pitt (18) from Duffield through the College's apprenticeship recruitment and training programme.

Thousands of young people across Derbyshire are nervously waiting for their A level exam results which will be published on Thursday August 18.

A leading motor finance company has teamed up with Derby College to launch an Employer Academy that will support its expansion plans.

First Response Finance, based in Chilwell, Nottingham, is currently recruiting up to 15 A level and Business Studies students from Derby College onto the programme with a view to recruiting some of them onto Degree Apprenticeships after they have finished their course.

Derby College is celebrating its highest grade percentage in five years with a 98% pass rate overall and the majority of A2 subjects recording a 100% pass rate including Humanities and Modern Foreign Language subjects.
