Mandie Stravino (Chief Executive)
Mandie Stravino is currently the Chief Executive of Derby College. Mandie’s passion for education and a desire to enable others to achieve their aspirations brought her into further education in 1995 as a lecturer in a large East Midlands college. She joined the Derby College management team in 1998 and became Deputy Chief Executive in 2010. As Deputy Chief Executive, Mandie was responsible for strategic development and organisation change management.
Since her appointment as Chief Executive in September 2012, Mandie has refocused the Derby College Group to enable it to effectively respond to the needs of the many different types of learners. Mandie has overseen the formation of the Derby College Education Trust, a multi-academy trust, which currently sponsors a large 11-18 academy in Derby City and will open the first Studio School in Derbyshire in September 2014. Mandie also represents the College as one of three partners sponsoring a University Technical College in Derby City.
Mandie actively engages in, and contributes towards, the region’s economic growth strategies. Mandie’s drive to respond to the skills needs of businesses now, and in the future, is at the forefront of the College’s excellent employer engagement provision, which has been nationally recognised and accredited.
