Well-set-out course information inspires programmer James to choose DCG for distance learning.
When IT programmer and developer James Cullinane decided to advance his career prospects via distance learning, he did a lot of research online first.
James, 42, from Luton, works for a global IT business and was keen to build on his knowledge of cybersecurity, furthering his professional development.
He said: “I looked at quite a few colleges and training providers but chose Derby College Group because I liked the way the course information was set out. It was so clear and transparent, with no hidden loopholes. It came across as very professional.”
James opted for the Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Cyber Security, a fully online course covering cybersecurity basics, threats, and best practices, and was extremely happy with his choice of training provider.
He added: “Cybersecurity is an awesome subject and what I learned on my DCG course backed up and added to my previous knowledge. The course is up to five months long, but I was so eager to get on with it that I completed mine in three months!”
Incentivised by opportunities for progression to leadership roles within his organisation, and by his previous positive experience with DCG, he then moved on to the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Lean Management with the college.
James, who has three young children, added: “This course is taking longer as I’m so busy, but I am on track to finish in June. I work from home, so I can use the time I would have spent commuting, as well as some evenings and weekends, to catch up on my studying.
“I intend to do another online course, probably in management, after this one.
“The DCG distance learning courses are so accessible and I’m always recommending them. I update my LinkedIn profile whenever I complete another course and I make sure that Derby College is tagged in.”
